There is news brewing all over the media that famous country singer, Morgan Wallen, was arrested in Nashville on Sunday for throwing a chair off of a rooftop bar. There may be serious consequences for Wallen due to his charge for three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct from the Metro Nashville Police Department. Wallen was arrested around 10:53 pm and was released by 3:30 am with a $15,250 bond. Investigators further looking into this case discovered Wallen has the possibility of seeing major legal penalties from this night out at the bar, “Chief’s.”
The felony charges are the most serious ones and could land Wallen in jail for up to six years if he is prosecuted and convicted of those charges - Rither Alabre, former New York prosecutor and current partner in the White Collar Defense & Investigation Practice Group at Blank Rome LLP
If Morgan Wallen is lucky, the felony charges could be charged as misdemeanors. This would make them less serious as his current felony charges and would equal a maximum of up to 11 months and 29 days in jail. However, this is a long time for the endeared country singer. The reason for these vast charges is when Wallen threw the chair, it landed close to police officers and other members of the community, putting people in danger. This scenario ended up elevating Morgan’s charge to an E felony charge. A class E felony charge includes violent assaults, involuntary manslaughter, and common-law robbery which can be punished by a prison sentence of up to 15 years. With these allegations, Wallen’s lawyer would have to engage with the prosecutors of the case and try for a lesser charge: a misdemeanor or little to no jail time.
Five days after Wallen’s arrest, his hit Man Made a Bar landed number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. This is his 12th top charting song, next to his record setting song Last Night. Most of his songs happen to be about drinking, and after this incident, people are beginning to question if Wallen has an issue with drinking. One source for yahoo.com claims Morgan “doesnt know when to stop” drinking. They go on to say, "Morgan is generally a nice, fun person to hang out with, but when he gets going he doesn't know when to stop, Morgan and alcohol [are] a problem, and it's been a problem that keeps coming back around.” This source is exactly right; shocking enough, this is not the first time Wallen has been arrested. In 2020, Wallen was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He concluded this arrest with a social media post: “Hey, y'all just wanted to clear the air. I went out downtown last night with a few old friends. After a couple [of] bar stops, we were horse-playing with each other. We didn't mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected.” Wallen later revealed that a few years ago he completed a 30 day rehab program. Though he was very adamant about mentioning this arrest and apologizing, he has still not mentioned anything about his April 7th arrest. Though, he is ready to take the stage for his next stop on his tour.
