A Killer Comedy: Lancer Productions Performs Clue

ree

As October begins, we inch closer to that harrowing night of ghosts and ghouls, mischief and mayhem—Halloween. But beyond the nonstop doorbell ringing from trick-or-treaters and the cheesy decorations at Walgreens, there’s something else to look forward to: North Scott Lancer Productions’ fall play, Clue.

The production is based on the 1985 cult classic Clue, which itself was inspired by the renowned board game.

The story follows six eccentric guests—Colonel Mustard (Kaden Timmerman), Mrs. White (Riley Johnson), Mrs. Peacock (Emma Zrostlik), Mr. Green (Pacey Kane), Professor Plum (Ben Hill), and Miss Scarlett (Charlotte Madden)—who have each received an invitation to a mysterious dinner party at Boddy Manor.

A night of chaos and comedy unfolds as the schemes of Wadsworth (Brayden Serrano), Mr. Boddy (Ashton Goodwin), Yvette (Jane Nichols), and The Cook (Taylar Vondal) come to light.

Brayden Serrano, Secretary of Lancer Productions, plays Wadsworth, the butler at the center of the mystery.

“Wadsworth is the butler, but as the play unfolds you see a different side of him — he’s more than just a butler,” said Serrano.

With constant twists and turns, the show keeps audiences guessing what will happen next. Each audience member becomes a detective, collecting clues and Easter eggs along the way to solve the mystery before the characters do—just like the classic board game.

For Serrano, the cast has been a highlight of the production. “It’s a small cast, so we’ve all gotten pretty close. Plus, it’s a comedy, so between scenes we’re always laughing. It really does feel like a family.”

To prepare for the role, Serrano had to master Mr. Wadsworth’s British accent and the show’s intense physical demands. “Getting into the accent is hard sometimes. It’s a physically demanding show; there’s a lot of physical comedy. I make sure to drink water, take care of my body. Before every run, we have a fight call where we practice all of our fights and stunts,” he said.

These daily “fight calls” ensure safety while maintaining the energy and timing needed for the show’s slapstick style—complete with fake slaps, dramatic falls, and chaotic chases.

“There’s one scene where I struggle to keep a [fake prop] gun in my hand while rolling on the floor,” Serrano laughed. “We’re constantly up and down, and we’re always screaming.”

Between the slapstick and the witty banter, Clue promises a night full of laughs—and a mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end.

Serrano continues, “You should come see Clue if you like comedy and a good murder mystery—this one has a really great twist. Honestly, if you don’t have something to do on Halloween weekend, come stop by!”

Lancer Productions is also hosting a special Student Night on Thursday, where tickets are just $5—make sure to bring cash at the door (you’ll buy your ticket from Mrs. Hintze). It’s the perfect chance to catch the show early, support your classmates, and enjoy some mystery and laughter without breaking the bank.

And for an added treat, Clue-themed Sips drinks are currently available—each inspired by one of the six main characters, with secret Easter eggs connecting them to the story. The lineup includes:
