Maverick fans are still outraged by the Luka Doncic trade back on February 1st and even more so angered by the general manager, Nico Harrison. The mindless general manager spoke to the media for his “end-of-season presser,” which did not go great for him and the fans. The press conference was so unserious that one of the questioners asked Nico, “Why shouldn’t you be fired?”

Nico Harrison is the mastermind behind the notorious Luka Doncic trade, which sent the Mavericks' generational star to Los Angeles for an injured Anthony Davis and two whole Payday chocolate bars. I’m surprised Nico Harrison is still allowed into the Mavericks arena, or even the fact that he would still show up just to get boo’ed by 20,000 fans and hear the chants all game, “Fire Nico.”
The general manager decided he wanted to throw some more large sticks into the blazing wildfire this last Monday in his last press conference in the inaugural 2024-2025 NBA season, with comments that left Mavericks fans flabbergasted.

Before the press conference, however, a source came out stating that the part-owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Patrick Dumont, was reportedly frustrated with Nico Harrison for not warning him how the fanbase would react to a Luka Doncic trade. Which makes no sense, what else would you expect when you trade arguably the best player in basketball currently? Fans do not care what the return is, you traded the most liked player on the team.
The press conference was a hard watch and made me form a migraine on an already gloomy Monday. Nico Harrison looked very uncomfortable throughout the whole press conference. The way he would respond to questions would make him look and sound like he was a young child talking to his mother after she scolded him for watching television to bed.

The pressers new the assignment, they attacked Nico all press conference with questions like, “Why shouldn’t you be fired?” Or “Do you think Luka Doncic is a championship level player?” Even the press knows that this was one of, if not the worst trade in NBA history.
It’s almost been three months since Luka Doncic was traded and it still haunts the brain of mine and other Maverick fans around the world. Maverick fans, just like me, are demanding the owners to fire Nico Harrison. Not that its going to change a trade that was dealt over 2 months ago, but for the integrity of the organization, general mangers like Nico should not have a job in the NBA.

Even Dirk Nowitzki, who has a statue of himself outside of the Mavericks arena, is turned off by the Mavericks management. The most loyal player for the Mavericks is even turned away by the judgement of Nico Harrison.
The Nico Harrison slander isn't going to be put to rest any time soon, in fact, his name will probably be cemented into the NBA hall of fame for being the mastermind behind one of the worst deals in NBA history.
