North Scott Dance Marathon: Creating Tomorrow By Dancing Today

On Saturday, April 5, Dance Marathon is returning to North Scott. North Scott’s Dance Marathon is a student-led, family-friendly event that will help support funding needs identified by the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Join us and dance the night away while supporting the children who have been through or are still fighting pediatric cancer. This year and every year, Dance Marathon is for the kids, so let’s make it a memorable, fun, exciting night for everyone!

What is Dance Marathon?
Dance Marathon is a fundraising program organized by the Miracle Network. The Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a program of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals that support the health of 10 million kids each year across the United States and Canada. Donations benefit local member hospitals to fund critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services.
Donations and fundraising also help to provide funds for innovative research, pediatric medical equipment, and child life services that put kids’ and families’ minds at ease during difficult hospital stays, as well as financial assistance for families who may struggle to afford these health care services.
Dance Marathon’s Mission
Dance Marathon was founded in 1991 by students at Indiana University in memory of a close friend, Ryan White, who was set to go to the university that year but sadly passed away from an HIV/AIDS complication following a bad blood transfusion. The program now spans across North America, benefitting hundreds of hospitals and kids. In 2016 alone, dance marathons raised more than $32.4 million.
At the University of Iowa Dance Marathon, “our mission is to create and sustain special projects to provide emotional and financial support for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients and their families treated at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.” The Dance Marathon event at the University of Iowa encourages individuals to not sit or sleep for 24 hours to celebrate the kids who beat cancer, support those who are still battling, and remember those who have passed.
While North Scott’s Dance Marathon is not 24 hours, we can still support and celebrate the kids who have been in or are still in a fight with cancer. We will help celebrate and support the kids in our community who have gone through the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, while also raising funds for those who are still going through the hospital. Mini dance marathons encourage kids of all ages to join in the fight against pediatric cancer.
Where Will My Money Go?
The North Scott Dance Marathon is raising money for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, our very own Miracle Network Hospital, in partnership with the University of Iowa Dance Marathon. Funds raised through t-shirt, ticket, and concession sales, along with donations the night of the dance, will be donated to this program. The money raised will be used by the University of Iowa Dance Marathon to provide for and benefit kids and their families fighting cancer at the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. When is North Scott’s Dance Marathon?
North Scott’s Dance Marathon is on April 5, 2025, in the PIT at North Scott High School. It is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. You can purchase tickets through Bound by clicking on this link. Even if you can not attend the dance, by purchasing a ticket, your money will be donated to this great cause. This year’s theme is “Mama Mia: Here [We] Go Again.” We are here to celebrate all of the “Dancing Queen and Kings!”
