Summer is one of the greatest seasons because of the fact that it is the opportunity to have fun without the responsibilities of school. If you’re like me and you still have the responsibility of a part-time job, then a vacation far from home isn't always an option. Despite that, there are plenty of fun places to spend your summer close to home!
The Scott County Pool at the park opens up this weekend and is a great way to spend a hot day. The pool is open on Memorial weekend and will open daily from June 4th until the end of summer. The only days that they will be closed are holiday weekends or days that it is raining or storming, due to safety hazards. The pool rates are $6 for 18-year-olds and older and $5 for those 17 and younger. It is a great place to spend with friends on a warm day.
When it comes to movies, there are many options to go and enjoy the night at the movies. There is the Cinemark, The Dewitt Oprea House, and a number of drive-in theaters, the closest being the Bluegrass Drive-in Theater. The rates for the drive-in are around $10 for adults and around $5 dollars for kids, with prices varying depending on group size. The rate for the Cinemark is around $10 and seating is reserved, and you are able to buy them online. The Dewitt Oprea House rates are $5 dollars for a ticket, but you buy the tickets when you walk in and the only way to reserve seats is to make a reservation as a party.
There are many summer openings that you can use to enjoy your summer and have fun close to home!
