That's a "Rap": Music Recap from Seniors' High School Experience

For seniors, these past four years have flown by--from the end of the COVID-19 era, till now, our last day of high school. Sometimes music can bring you back to a certain time of your life, so let's take a glance back into the past.

"We Are All In This Together" -- Troy Bolton

Freshman Year: 2021-2022

Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic after a year of masks at school, we finally got our first normal year of school since 6th grade. If you remember, this was the year of the TikTok trend, "devious licks" and the popular TV show, Squid Games. Freshman year is full of nostalgic music.

The 2022 Super Bowl Halftime show featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem

Sophomore Year: 2022-2023

Sophomore year--what a time to be alive. This year was full of plenty of homecoming week scandals (that is all I will say about that). Taylor Swift began her world famous Eras Tour in the spring of this year. This Halftime show was performed by Rihanna, and people seemed to have mixed emotions on it.

Music at this time was light and fun. Some songs you might remember are:

Junior Year: 2023-2024

Junior year is known for being the hardest year of high school, but look at us. We are already way past it now. This was the The Barbie Movie Summer, and it seemed like everything was pink. This was also the era of the Grimace Shake. This year AI grew in popularity and became a lot more accessible, and teachers became a lot more aware of it.

Senior Year: 2024-2025

Here we are, seniors. Time flies. This year we can think back to the time we all freaked out when TikTok got banned for night, and then make fun of our friends who deleted it and couldn't redownload. This year we were forced to a pick a side-- Kendrick Lamar or Drake? The TV show, "Monsters" was released and girls across the nation gushed over the Menendez brothers.

What a time it has been. Music plays a role in all of our lives, and in the future when we have kids and turn on our music, this is what we will play. Congrats to all the seniors, we did it.
